Iranian TeenagerCrowned as World Snooker Champion

Hossein Vafaei, the Iranian snooker player, played a shot during the IBSF World Snooker Championship in Bangalore on December 3. The Iranian snooker player Hossein Vafaei defeated Wales star Lee Walker in the final of the IBSF World Snooker Championship.

Vafaei, who is 17yearsold, beat Walker 10-9 in the best of 19 frames final after a 10-hour battle to claim the championship in the Indian city of Bangalore. After the match he stated:
“The pressure got to me in the end. But I have learnt a bit about how to play under pressure. I thought I had him but Lee is a great player. I am just shocked; I don't know what to say as I hold the trophy.”
The Iranian athlete outclassed opponents from Austria, India, Ireland, Scotland, Afghanistan, Russia, and Australia to reach the final. This victory gaveVafaei a ticket for the professional tour next year and a $6,400 check as well.

The IBSF World Snooker Championship was held from November 27 to December 3,2011 in India, in which 85 snooker players from around the globe participated.

Victory of Iranian Wrestler in London

Iranian lightweight freestyle wrestler,FarzadJa'fari, won a gold medal at the London Prepares Wrestling International Invitational test event. In this event Ja'fari defeated US wrestler Angel Escobedo 7-3 in the 55-kilogram category. Later on he beat Adrian Hajduk from Poland to reach the final.

EhsanLashgari, another Iranian wrestler, outclassed Jake Herbert from the United States in the third-place playoff of the 84-kilogram category winning a bronze for the Iranian squad. Therefore the Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling team stood second in the medal count with a

gold and a bronze. MeanwhileQasemRezaei won a gold medal in the 94-kilogram category and SaeedAbdevali pocketed a bronze for the Islamic Republic.

The London Prepares Wrestling International Invitational was part of the London Prepares series, which was held as a test event for the London Olympics 2012 since May.
