ImamHassan Mojtaba and the DivinePlan

At the dawn of midday of Ramadan,in the home of Fatima (A.S)and Ali IbnAbiTalib (A.S), a ivinebehavior

and nice-faced baby was born. The birth of Imam Hassam Mojtaba (A.S), the second infallible successor of Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H), was a very pleasant occasion.

It was a joyful event for the blessed family, since Imam Hassan was the first grandson of the Prophet, and certainly a gift from God. In a message the Almighty God sent through the Gabriel to His beloved prophet, the newborn son was named Hassan. The Prophet recited Azan in his right ear and Iqamah in the left. After seven days, two sheep were sacrificed for giving thanks to Allah. The childhood of Imam Hassan (AS) was spent with the Prophet and in fact for seven years and a few months the Holy Prophet directly educated him.

During his childhood, Imam Hassan (AS) accompanied the Prophet to the mosque and when the Prophet

prostrated, he would climb upon his shoulders. The Prophet remained in prostration for a longer time and

let the child sit on his shoulders. He spent about 30 years more, with his father, Imam Ali (AS) and  received divine teachings from him and accomplished the ultimate humane perfection.

Imam Hassan's policies were identical to that of his father Imam Ali, the first infallible successor of rophet

Mohammad (pbuh). His authority was also like that of Imam Ali. Imam Hassan Mojtaba could also be called the son of the battlefield – in the struggle against oppression and injustice. As a matter of fact, Imam Hassan paved the way for the immortal epic of Ashura and ensured the righteousness of Imamate (divinely decreed leadership) in the Prophet's blessed household.

The Treaty with the rebel Mu'awiyah and the conditions he set (for relinquishing the caliphate) was indeed  a Divine Plan. He is thus, one of our Great Leaders and is followed as our spiritual and political role model. Imam Hassan Mojtaba (A.S) is indeed a source of blessings and munificence. Imam Hassan's bravery is unique among all the other Imams. During his days, he was faced with two options: artyrdom

or life. He thus made the most difficult choice, and continues to live forever. One day during his  childhood, he and his brother Hussein (A.S) saw an Arab man performing ablution. In as much as he didn't  perform the ritual properly, they decided to show him how it should be done. But in order that he might not be annoyed, they suggested to him that they perform ablution, and the man judges which ablution was correctly performed. After their performance the man said: "Both your ablutions are perfect and mine is wrong."He was amazed at their politeness and asked them who they were and kissed their faces.

Imam Hassan was quite wealthy and could have lived in luxury if he desired, but he preferred to spend

his money to help the poor and needy. Twice in his life, Imam gave away his entire wealth in charity

and began all over again.

One day he passed by a group of poor people in the street who had spread a cloth on the ground. Seeing

Imam Hassan, they invited him to lunch with them which was nothing but crumbs. Imam accepted the

invitation and took a few morsels and then in return he took them home and gave them food and

clothes. He made pilgrimage to the Holy Ka’aba 25 times on foot, whereas he had full-bred horses.

The Holy Prophet had said that Hassan (A.S) and Hossein (A.S) were both his children and Imams,

whether they rose up or secluded themselves. In the battles of Jamal andSiffin, Imam Hassan fought

by his father's side and displayed great valor. The Holy Imam helped his father throughout his life until

Imam Ali died when Imam Hassan was 37 years old. At this age he in- herited his father and became the

guardian of the AhlulBayt and the Shia. In his well-known will Imam Ali appointed him as the next

Imam.

Imam Hassam Mojtaba says:erfection of wisdom requires

good behavior towards the people."Perfection of wisdom requires

good behavior towards the people.

And Behave to people as well as

you like to be behaved.”
